Chillerama (2011)

It’s the closing night at the last drive-in theater in America and owner Cecil B. Kaufman has planned the ultimate marathon of four rare and outrageous film prints to unleash upon his faithful cinephile patrons.  Starring Richard Riehle (OFFICE SPACE), Joel David Moore (AVATAR), Lin Shaye (INSIDIOUS), Ray Wise (TWIN PEAKS), Kane Hodder (HATCHET), and more cameos than you can count, CHILLERAMA is the ultimate midnight anthology movie that critics call “a late night classic for the new millennium” (Killer Film), and “the most offensively nostalgic fun time I’ve experienced in theaters in I don’t know how long.” (Dread Central).

Written and Directed by Adam Rifkin (DETROIT ROCK CITY), Tim Sullivan (2001 MANIACS), Adam Green (FROZEN), and Joe Lynch (WRONG TURN 2).

DRIVE-IN THEATER TOUR  – September/October 2011
DVD/BLU-RAY release 11.29.11

“Of all the horror anthologies I’ve seen, CHILLERAMA is unquestionably the silliest, the goriest, the wildest and the most endearing.  The most entertaining of the shorts is THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANKENSTEIN directed by Adam Green and starring Joel David Moore as a particularly goofy Adolf Hitler. The film plays like a crude collage of several Mel Brooks films, with particularly strong shades of YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, TO BE OR NOT TO BE, and THE PRODUCERS. The cinematic anarchy that THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANKENSTEIN offers is more consistently entertaining than any other short.” – Clark Douglas, DVD Verdict (December 9, 2011)

HATCHET II (2010)

Starting on the very frame that the original HATCHET ended on, “Marybeth” escapes from the clutches of “Victor Crowley” and learns the horrific truth about her family’s link to the deformed hatchet-wielding madman. She returns to the swamp with an arsenal of hunters in an effort to recover the bodies of her family and seek revenge against “Crowley” in what becomes one of the most in-your-face and gore soaked slasher films ever made. Starring Danielle Harris (HALLOWEEN IV & V), Kane Hodder (FRIDAY THE 13TH VII-X), Tony Todd (CANDYMAN), and Tom Holland (CHILD’S PLAY), critics hailed the film as “One of the greatest slasher films ever” (Bloody-Disgusting) and having “Twice the gore, twice the intensity” (Dread Central). Unable to obtain an “R” rating by the Motion Picture Association of America without enormous censorship and changes, Adam Green’s HATCHET II made a groundbreaking achievement by being the first theatrical horror film to circumvent the MPAA and be released UNRATED and UNCUT in major U.S. cinemas since George Romero’s DAWN OF THE DEAD in 1978.  The film made history again merely 72 hours later when it became the first film to ever be pulled from theaters in its opening weekend, causing controversy in the media internationally.

“Man, Adam Green must have run up a bill at the local butcher. Hundreds of dollars worth of sweetmeats, livers, gizzards, hearts, lungs and other organs of animals (none of them human, I trust) are seemingly ripped out of Crowley’s victims, while blood helpfully obscures our view of the details of these eviscerations.” – Roger Ebert (September 29, 2010)
