ArieScope mourns the loss of “S. Tyler Kitty” who passed away today at the age of 17. “Tyler” and his sister “Perry” were adopted by Adam Green when they were merely 5 weeks old. In June 2003, legendary radio personality Art Laboe found the kittens behind his home in Los Angeles.

Covered in fleas and unable to survive on their own, Art brought the kittens to Melrose La Brea Animal Hospital where veterinarian Dr. Edd Jordan treated them and promised to try and find the pair a good home.

A frequent customer of The Rainbow Bar & Grill (where Green worked as a DJ at the time), Art mentioned the kittens to Sarah Strandberg (who worked there as a waitress at the time). Long time ArieScope fans know Sarah as “Alix” from the 2003 annual Halloween short film THE REAL WORLD: HOLLYWOOD.

So Art told Sarah who told Adam who in turn went to see Dr. Jordan and wound up adopting the two kittens that would be named “Tyler” and “Perry” after AEROSMITH’s toxic twins Steven Tyler and Joe Perry. When Adam brought them home they were just under 6 weeks old.

Tyler and Perry lived incredible lives being spoiled by Adam. Though much more camera shy then their canine sister “Arwen” (who would not come into the family until 2011), ArieScope fans will remember “Perry” from the 2004 ArieScope Halloween short film MIDNIGHT and “Tyler’s” commanding performance as “Mr. Carruthers” in our 2008 Halloween short film THE TIVO.
Not to mention “Tyler’s” brief appearance in 2017’s SCARY SLEEPOVER “Christmas Special.”
“Tyler” passed away this morning from kidney failure- the same disease that took his sister “Perry” in 2014. He was gently put to sleep by Dr. Jordan in Adam’s arms as they sat together in the very same chair at Melrose La Brea Animal Hospital where he was first placed into Adam’s lap as a 5-week old kitten 17 years earlier.

On social media today Adam posted the following about “Tyler”: Goodnight, my friend. Thank you for 17 wonderful years of unconditional love, loyalty, and companionship. Thank you for sharing some of my happiest days and for watching over me through my darkest nights. I know how hard you fought to try and stay here with me but you can rest now. Until I see you again- sleep well and dream on, Tyler. I love you.
