ArieScope Mourns The Loss Of HADDONFIELD’s Chris Permatteo

Chris Permatteo, the bass guitarist for HADDONFIELD, passed away suddenly on Thursday July 11, 2019. While Chris is believed to have died of natural causes, the exact cause of death is still unknown at this time. Chris’ family, friends, and bandmates are shocked and devastated by this tragic loss.

From HADDONFIELD’s lead singer Adam Green: “Last night my dear friend Chris Permatteo passed away suddenly from what is believed to be natural causes. It’s shocking, confusing, and devastating. Sadly, we won’t have answers for many weeks. From our many years of writing and performing music together in our band HADDONFIELD we shared a brotherhood that anyone who has ever been in a band for a long time can understand. Chris was an incredibly gifted bass player and he was always a voice of reason. Forever curious, excited, worried, practical, nervous- all in a great, “responsible” OCD kind of way. But most of all Chris was always kind, supportive, and generous.”

DA49A950-E780-4F80-9936-74E3DD06D79A

“On Saturday he randomly texted me just to remind me that he’s always rooting for me and to say how proud he is of the things I’ve accomplished in my career. That was Chris. When I made HATCHET I named two of the characters after him (“Mr. and Mrs. Permatteo”) and gave them the two best deaths in the film. To me it was just a fun shout-out to my friend but to Chris it meant the absolute world when he heard his name in the movie. I’ll always be grateful for our years performing together and I’m especially thankful that we got to do it again one last time when HADDONFIELD played the Worcester Palladium at Rock And Shock in 2017. But most of all I’ll always be grateful for his friendship. It’s been hard enough living 3,000 miles away from my true home for the last 20 years, but today I’m so far away from my friends that I may as well live on another planet.”

211DB775-FF19-4E85-8FC1-E81EDDE42402

“To everyone grieving back home- I’m sorry I’m not there with you but you’re each in my every thought. To Chris’ amazing wife Michelle- absolutely anything you ever need- …ANYTHING. And to my bandmates Jon, Alix, Gregg, and (more recently) Mike: Yesterday is alive in my memory, we have to think of the times we were young and free, to keep alive the spirit of the young…

Sleep well, P-man. I love you.”

RARE SCREEN-USED ITEMS FOR SALE!

We’ve kicked off summer by doing a little remodeling around the ArieScope Studio! That means it’s time to find new homes for some of the amazing screen-used props and other rare gems that have graced our studio walls and display cases for the last 10 years. From the life-size “Victor Crowley” head used in the opening scene of HATCHET 2… to more of “Laura’s” original canvas paintings seen on screen in HOLLISTON… to screen-worn wardrobe from CHILLERAMA… and a FULL CAST autographed DVD of SPIRAL… you won’t believe some of the items we’ve made available for fans to purchase! As hard as it may be to part with these incredibly rare pieces of our cinematic history, we’d much prefer that they live on forever with true fans than wind up in storage where no one can appreciate them. That… and we don’t want to wind up on an episode of HOARDERS as that’s precisely where we’re heading if we don’t make some room soon!

Head over to our “BUY STUFF” store to see what is available- but don’t wait! Some items were scooped up the very minute they posted and we don’t expect the rest to remain available very long. Good luck!

THE MOVIE CRYPT MOVES TO FANGORIA!

Movie Crypt Fango RedWhite LOGO

After Six Successful Years on the Air, Co-Hosts Adam Green, Joe Lynch, and Arwen Find a New Home on the Network Helmed by the Iconic Horror Company FANGORIA

DALLAS, TX (July 2019)–– Since its launch in March of this year, the FANGORIA Podcast Network has acquired multiple beloved shows and continues to fill out its slate of original programming, including the new series CASUALTY FRIDAY, hosted by real-life friends Tiffany Shepis, Felissa Rose, and Kane Hodder, which dropped last week.

About THE MOVIE CRYPT

Hosted by filmmakers Adam Green (HATCHET, FROZEN), Joe Lynch (EVERLY, MAYHEM), and the show-stealing Yorkshire Terrier “Arwen”, THE MOVIE CRYPT is a weekly entertainment behind-the-scenes podcast that focuses on the deeply personal career journeys of artists ranging from Hollywood’s A-List to the freshest up-and-coming voices in the industry today. Through its hosts’ candid and heartfelt conversations with their guests, the show provides inspiration and hope for established and aspiring artists striving or struggling to chase their dreams.

For six years now, listeners have tuned in every Monday (Literally – they’ve never missed a week, ever) to hear Green, Lynch, and Arwen hold spirited conversations with such celebrated artists as Jordan Peele, Roger Corman, James Gunn, Lin Shaye, Greg Nicotero, and more. Through holidays and packed production schedules, these hosts have devoted themselves to highlighting and championing the great work done in the horror genre and cinema at large. You’ll hear from your heroes and you’ll also hear from the talent managers, costume designers, sound mixers, and studio executives that make your favorite movies possible.

“When a new episode of THE MOVIE CRYPT comes out each week, we make a point around the FANGORIA office to listen right away because Adam and Joe score these amazing guests in our genre universe and then get them to bare their souls to an audience of aspiring filmmakers. THE MOVIE CRYPT is a gift to horror, and the FANGORIA Podcast Network is lucky to be a part of this journey. Plus, we stan Arwen,” enthuses FANGORIA CEO Dallas Sonnier, a genuine fan of the show and the Yorkshire Terrier.

“Joe and I both grew up on FANGORIA Magazine,” says Green. “It’s been such a huge part of who we are and how we found our careers. To now have our podcast part of the FANGORIA Family and legacy is quite literally both of our childhood dreams coming true.”

The first episode of THE MOVIE CRYPT’s FANGORIA chapter will premiere on Monday, July 15th. THE MOVIE CRYPT is available on Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your audio content.

About the FANGORIA Podcast Network

Next on the docket for the FANGORIA Podcast Network is another original series hosted by the “Vanguard of the Vault” Natasha Pascetta. LIFECAST is a podcast that explores unique perspectives on special effects in film. Natasha interviews SFX artists, directors, actors and more with the goal of unearthing special-effects-related behind the scenes stories that have rarely been heard. Listeners can expect to hear fan favorites like Barbara Crampton, Alec Gillis, Lloyd Kaufman, and so many more. The FANGORIA Podcast Network is also the home of POST MORTEM WITH MICK GARRIS, Rebekah McKendry’s NIGHTMARE UNIVERSITY, CASUALTY FRIDAY, CLASS OF ’79, and CLASS OF ’89. In-house shows are produced by FANGORIA’s own Natasha Pascetta.

About FANGORIA

FANGORIA is the iconic horror film fan magazine with a die-hard fan base, in publication since 1979. FANGORIA was acquired by CINESTATE, the Texas-based movie studio run by producer Dallas Sonnier, who re-launched the magazine as a print-only quarterly collectible while extending the franchise into films, podcasts, and books. FANGORIA’s latest movie SATANIC PANIC is currently in an international festival fun, and the studio recently wrapped production on the Joe Begos-helmed Action-Horror V.F.W., which stars genre legend Stephen Lang. Up next, the studio is reimagining the 1995 Stuart Gordon cult hit CASTLE FREAK, which is set to begin production in Albania next month.

THE “I, SURVIVOR” AUDIOBOOK HAS ARRIVED!

Last year ArieScope released the novel “I, SURVIVOR” which was prominently featured in the film VICTOR CROWLEY (aka HATCHET 4). The fictitious autobiography of “Andrew Yong” (played by Parry Shen in the HATCHET series) tells Yong’s heartbreaking life story and reveals the details of how he survived the 2007 “Honey Island Swamp Massacre” and the subsequent trial for his life. Written by Adam Green and Joe Knetter, this novel is an absolute MUST READ for fans of the HATCHET series as it connects the events of HATCHET 3 and 4 through all of the stories you didn’t see on-screen in the films themselves!

“I, SURVIVOR” is now available in audiobook form (narrated by Adam Green) for the first time ever! You can purchase the audiobook on Audible, Amazon, and iTunes.

“I, SURVIVOR” was released in softcover format last year and first edition copies are still available through Amazon, Barnes And Noble, and (autographed) here on ArieScope.com. Our on-line store has just three limited edition hardcover copies left that were originally only available to fans who saw Adam Green on his “Dismember America Tour” in 2017!
