“YORKIETHON 5” DATES AND OFFICIAL POSTER!
THE MOVIE CRYPT podcast announces Yorkiethon 5, the podcast’s fifth annual 48-hour live broadcast to benefit Save A Yorkie Rescue taking place December 18th – 20th, 2020. Filmmakers and co-hosts Adam Green (HATCHET, FROZEN), Joe Lynch (MAYHEM, POINT BLANK) and Arwen the Yorkie will once again be staying on the air live for two days straight in an effort to help save abandoned and abused Yorkshire Terriers. The annual two day long variety show will feature well over 50 celebrity artists and special guests appearing around the clock and performing live comedy, live music, live film commentaries, live script readings, live special FX/art demonstrations, live interviews, and more. In addition to the non-stop live entertainment, Yorkiethon 5 will once again offer Arwen’s Silent Auction where fans can purchase or bid on donated items such as autographed movie memorabilia, records, artwork, apparel, and so much more with all proceeds going to Save A Yorkie Rescue.
“After such a difficult year we’re more excited than ever for Yorkiethon 5,” says co-host Adam Green. “We’re going to end the dumpster fire that was 2020 on a high note by bringing our community together to save a whole bunch of dogs and we’re going to have a ton of fun doing it.” While the list of artists that appear during each year’s 48 hour Yorkiethon is always kept as a surprise, the hosts are looking at this year’s hurdle of social distancing as something positive. “Normally our mandate has been that all appearing guests during Yorkiethon must be in the studio with us,” says co-host Joe Lynch. “However, with the pandemic eliminating that option, this year we have the opportunity to virtually bring on guests no matter where they happen to be located in the world physically.”
To date THE MOVIE CRYPT’s annual Yorkiethons have raised well over $100,000.00 for the non-profit, volunteer dog Rescue that specializes in rescuing abandoned and abused Yorkshire Terriers.
The live stream for Yorkiethon 5 will be available for all to listen to (and watch during select video segments) on ArieScope.com where links will be provided to either donate money or bid on items in Arwen’s Silent Auction and help Save A Yorkie Rescue.

S. Tyler Kitty (2003 – 2020)
ArieScope mourns the loss of “S. Tyler Kitty” who passed away today at the age of 17. “Tyler” and his sister “Perry” were adopted by Adam Green when they were merely 5 weeks old. In June 2003, legendary radio personality Art Laboe found the kittens behind his home in Los Angeles.
Read about Art Laboe’s amazing career here.
Covered in fleas and unable to survive on their own, Art brought the kittens to Melrose La Brea Animal Hospital where veterinarian Dr. Edd Jordan treated them and promised to try and find the pair a good home.

A frequent customer of The Rainbow Bar & Grill (where Green worked as a DJ at the time), Art mentioned the kittens to Sarah Strandberg (who worked there as a waitress at the time). Long time ArieScope fans know Sarah as “Alix” from the 2003 annual Halloween short film THE REAL WORLD: HOLLYWOOD.

So Art told Sarah who told Adam who in turn went to see Dr. Jordan and wound up adopting the two kittens that would be named “Tyler” and “Perry” after AEROSMITH’s toxic twins Steven Tyler and Joe Perry. When Adam brought them home they were just under 6 weeks old.
“Perry” and “Tyler” on the day they came home in July 2003.
Tyler and Perry lived incredible lives being spoiled by Adam. Though much more camera shy then their canine sister “Arwen” (who would not come into the family until 2011), ArieScope fans will remember “Perry” from the 2004 ArieScope Halloween short film MIDNIGHT and “Tyler’s” commanding performance as “Mr. Carruthers” in our 2008 Halloween short film THE TIVO.
Not to mention “Tyler’s” brief appearance in 2017’s SCARY SLEEPOVER “Christmas Special.”
“Tyler” passed away this morning from kidney failure- the same disease that took his sister “Perry” in 2014. He was gently put to sleep by Dr. Jordan in Adam’s arms as they sat together in the very same chair at Melrose La Brea Animal Hospital where he was first placed into Adam’s lap as a 5-week old kitten 17 years earlier.

On social media today Adam posted the following about “Tyler”: Goodnight, my friend. Thank you for 17 wonderful years of unconditional love, loyalty, and companionship. Thank you for sharing some of my happiest days and for watching over me through my darkest nights. I know how hard you fought to try and stay here with me but you can rest now. Until I see you again- sleep well and dream on, Tyler. I love you.
LIVE Q&A CELEBRATING HATCHET 2 TONIGHT!
Happy 10th anniversary to HATCHET 2! On October 1, 2010 HATCHET 2 made history twice in the same weekend. First – when it became the first horror film in over 30 years to be released in major US multiplexes without an MPAA rating…and then again just 48 hours later when it became the first horror film to ever be pulled from every screen during its opening weekend.
The cuts that the MPAA were demanding in order to secure an acceptable “R” rating (down from an “NC-17”) included cutting out 27 of the 30 hatchet strikes to “Chad’s” (David Foy’s) face and a long list of other edits to virtually every death scene in the film that would have not only fully censored the film that we made but completely changed the tone of the film from ridiculous and fun to realistic and mean spirited. In 2010 “torture porn” films distributed by major studios were A-OK but slashers with undead swamp monsters killing comedians in Monty Python-esque ways with a gas powered belt sander were a big No-No. Check out the documentary THIS FILM IS NOT YET RATED- to learn more about the MPAA and their rating process.
While they may have knocked Victor Crowley down that weekend…10 years, 2 more sequels, Halloween masks, action figures, and a comic book series later… they couldn’t actually hurt him. The bayou butcher’s work is never finished, he can’t be stopped, and we have a feeling we’ll be seeing him again someday.
Join Adam Green, Kane Hodder, Danielle Harris, and Parry Shen TONIGHT for an on-line screening and LIVE Q&A celebrating HATCHET 2’s 10th Anniversary at 8:30pm PST as part of this year’s Mile High Horror Film Festival. Click here for details and ticket information.
If you’re going to watch the film on your own to celebrate- make sure you are watching the UNRATED version and the film that we actually made. (Unfortunately the versions of the HATCHET films that are currently streaming on Amazon Prime are the censored versions.) We recommend getting an autographed UNRATED Blu-Ray from our BUY STUFF store here.
