CHILLERAMA scores distribution and a Fall release in the US!
IMAGE ENTERTAINMENT SCARES UP THE ULTIMATE MIDNIGHT MOVIE WITH CHILLERAMA
Quartet of Acclaimed Directors Includes Adam Rifkin, Tim Sullivan, Adam Green and Joe Lynch
CHATSWORTH, CA – Image Entertainment, Inc. has acquired all distribution rights to the horror anthology film CHILLERAMA, the ultimate midnight movie. Plans call for a theatrical and potential “road show” release in early fall, with VOD and DVD targeted for latter Q4. The announcement was made by Image Entertainment’s Chief Acquisition Officer, Bill Bromiley.
“This title is a nightmare come true for anyone who loves horror films, twisted humor, and skilled film making,” said Bromiley. “CHILLERAMA,and its foursome of fierce film makers, presents a bloody-good cinematic love letter to fans.”
“The four directors of CHILLERAMA are as much fans of horror film as they are filmmakers,” said Mark Ward, Vice President of Acquisitions, Image Entertainment. “I’m thrilled that Image is partnered with them to bring this very special film to audiences everywhere.”
Produced by ArieScope Pictures and in the spirit of classic “omnibus” films like Dead of Night, Tales From the Crypt, Creepshow and Twilight Zone: The Movie, with four vignettes that not only celebrate the golden age of B horror schlock but also nearly the entire history of horror cinema itself, CHILLERAMA offers something for every bad taste. With titles like “Wadzilla,” “I Was A Teenage Werebear,” The Diary of Anne Frankenstein,” and “Zom-B-Movie,” CHILLERAMA features appearances by Joel David Moore (Avatar, Hatchet), Lin Shaye (Insidious), Ray Wise (X-Men: First Class), Kane Hodder (Hatchet and Hatchet II), Eric Roberts (The Dark Knight, Sharktopus) and more cameos than one can (body)count. From the depraved minds of directors Adam Rifkin (Detroit Rock City, The Dark Backward), Tim Sullivan (2001 Maniacs, Driftwood), Adam Green (Hatchet, Frozen), and Joe Lynch (Wrong Turn 2, Knights of Badassdom), CHILLERAMA is a festival of gore, guts, goofiness and good times.
It’s the closing night at the last drive-in theater in America and Cecil B. Kaufman (Richard Riehle, Bridesmaids, Hatchet) has planned the ultimate marathon of lost film prints to unleash upon his faithful cinephile patrons. Four films so rare that they have never been exhibited publicly on American soil until this very night! What could possibly go wrong?

HATCHET 3 gets a greenlight!
HATCHET 3 has been green-lit. With Adam Green’s “Hatchet 2” exceeding all expectations for sales on DVD and continually selling out in major retail stores nationwide as fast as they can stock it, Dark Sky Films announced today that they have greenlit production on “Hatchet 3.”
The film will be produced by Green’s ArieScope Pictures and Dark Sky Films, which is a subsidiary of indie producer-distrib MPI Media Group. ArieScope’s Cory Neal will serve as a producer along with Green and Sarah Elbert.
The third installment in the popular franchise will continue the horrific saga of Victory Crowley and pick up where “Hatchet 2” left off, with a young woman (Danielle Harris) getting revenge on the malevolent monster who killed her friends while they vacationed in Louisiana swamp country.
Cast and other details of the production, including its director, are expected shortly.
“For a little indie movie that I dreamt up when I was just eight years old, it has been absolutely surreal to watch it turn into a modern-day slasher franchise,” said Green, who had already worked out a possible storyline for “Hatchet 3” before he started shooting “Hatchet 2,” the first unrated indie horror film to be exhibited by a major chain in 25 years when it opened last fall in AMC Theatres across the country.
While Green expressed trepidation about the possibility of handing the franchise to another filmmaker, he expects to be “more involved” than the typical producer, and promises “we’ll never run out of creative ways for Victor Crowley to kill people.”
“It has been our intention from the beginning to continue building the ‘Hatchet’ franchise,” said Greg Newman, EVP of Dark Sky. “Adam Green has created a horror icon in Victor Crowley, and we’re pleased that Crowley will live on in future installments of the franchise.”
