Spiral (2008)

A reclusive artist finds life in the eyes of his latest subject, but the past that haunts him may come to haunt her as well.  Joel David Moore (AVATAR), Amber Tamblyn (SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING PANTS), Zachary Levi (TANGLED), and Tricia Helfer (BATTLESTAR GALLACTICA) star in this acclaimed and award winning psychodrama described by critics as “the closest thing you’ll get to Hitchcock in our day and age.”

Directed by Adam Green and Joel David Moore

Theatrical release 2.8.2008
DVD release 2.19.2008

“SPIRAL is nothing short of brilliant as it explores a rare theme in horror: the image of the monster as victim. A very cerebral film, SPIRAL leaves much to the imagination, but it’s no blank canvas. Fantastic use of color, it is beautifully shot, primarily in reds. The opening shot sets the tone with a gorgeous red, blue, and green reflection in a puddle of a diner window. Visually, this is a masterpiece, and the live acoustic jazz score fits perfectly. I could just listen to this movie and still have a good time.” – Ain’t It Cool News (September 22, 2007)

The Tiffany Problem (2007) ** 2019 RE-MASTER **

What’s a 30 year old guy to do when his wife stays home sick and ruins his trick or treating plans? Featuring a star-studded cast that include Joel David Moore (HATCHET, DODGEBALL, AVATAR), Corri English (BEDFORD DIARIES, UNREST, HOLLISTON), and Zachary Levi (SHAZAM, CHUCK, TANGLED, THOR 2), our 9th annual ArieScope Halloween short film remains one of the most fan-beloved of all of our Halloween shorts.

THE 2019 RE-MASTER: THE TIFFANY PROBLEM was shot in 2007 before the advent of consumer grade high-definition video. Therefore, the original version of the short was extremely low resolution. However, in 2018 specific scenes from THE TIFFANY PROBLEM were fixed up as much as they possibly could be in order to be included in our feature-length documentary “FOR THE LOVE OF HALLOWEEN: Celebrating 20 Years of ArieScope Halloween Shorts” that was released in conjunction with our 20th annual Halloween short film. Fans with a keen eye for detail immediately noticed the quality difference between the clips of THE TIFFANY PROBLEM used in the documentary and the actual short that they’ve watched countless times over the years… and thus began a year of fan requests for a re-mastered version.

So… you asked and we delivered! Presented here is the complete 2019 re-master of THE TIFFANY PROBLEM which was first shown in its entirety during Adam Green’s “Coronapocalypse Live Stream Series” in April 2020. Given that the original footage was not only shot in extremely low resolution, standard definition video but also lost forever when the ArieScope studio was flooded in February 2017… unfortunately the quality of the image could only be improved so much. That being said, the sound has been cleaned up and re-mixed, the credits look infinitely better, and the picture and color are definitely a step up from the original ultra low-fi 2007 version which will remain hosted on the ArieScope YouTube channel. We hope that you enjoy it… and that you never stop trick or treating!

Hatchet (2007)

When a motley crew of tourists embark on a tour of the haunted Louisiana bayous they learn the terrifying tale of local legend “Victor Crowley”; a horribly disfigured man who was tragically and accidentally killed with a hatchet by the hands of his own father.  When their tour boat sinks and the ghost story turns out to be real, the group tries desperately to escape the swamp with their lives… and all of their pieces.  Featuring an all-star horror cast including Kane Hodder (“Jason Voorhees”), Robert Englund (“Freddy Krueger”), and Tony Todd (“Candyman”), HATCHET swept film festivals all over the globe before hitting theaters worldwide.  Hailed by critics as “the holy grail of slasher films” and creating “the next icon of horror”, this celebrated horror classic has now become a worldwide franchise with two sequels.

“Adam Green — like John Carpenter, Wes Craven and the get-it-done directors he obviously admires — is smart enough to ratchet up the horror in HATCHET to a level that should satisfy party-hard gore hounds and casual tourists alike.  To the dishonor-and-dismember roll of Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees and Freddie Krueger, you may now add Victor Crowley, the deranged and deformed bogeyman of HATCHET.” – Terry Lawson, Detroit Free Press (September 7, 2007)

The Dee Snider Story (2007)

King In The Box (2006)

When “Jack” from Jack In The Box pulls a shady move over on Burger King, “The King” pays him a visit on Halloween night to settle the score the only way he knows how.
